Dragon Age II coming Feb. 1, 2011?

Retail box of Awakening expansion contains flyer with two-winged dragon and a date corresponding to previously announced release window of entry in series.

Source: Game-news site 1up.

What we heard: With Dragon Age: Awakening shipping next week, game publications are starting to receive retail review copies from Electronic Arts. It looks like the mailman stopped at 1up first, as the site is now displaying pictures of a flyer contained in the box that apparently reveals the release date for Dragon Age II.

As can been seen in the photo, the flyer shows the series' iconic blood-red dragon. However, instead of being shown from the side with one wing, it is shown head-on, so two wings are visible. In the upper-right hand corner, the date "02.01.2011" is displayed. In North America, that translates to February 1, 2011.

The date falls in the first quarter of next year, when EA announced it would be releasing "Dragon Age Title TBA." The game was listed for the PC, consoles, and unspecified portable platforms. However, sources close to EA have downplayed the handheld version to GameSpot, saying it is likely an iPhone spin-off.

The official story: BioWare and EA reps had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus. Valentine's Day will apparently come two weeks early for role-playing game fans next year.

Guys, according to Bioware, the game will be set 10 years after the first game with a new character. Probably some of the character from the first game won't show up.

Cant wait to see what became of Morrigan! Only just finished the game (late i know, blame Mass Effect!). And OMG that was awsome.
Bioware make the best games, i hope this story quality goes into SWTOR

Feels rushed and that usually comes with a drop in quality. Would hate to see that, love this game too much. Story, dialogue, characters, all were very well polished, how will DA2 fare with less than a year and a half of dev, not to mention there were lots of dlc in between.
Just hoping they go for quality and not money, if it's 50 hours play of Awakening quality... man I could cry (figuratively speaking).

I hope they make it for the PC and I seriously hope that they'll make available the importing of the character used in Origins and Awakening, just as they did for Mass Effect 2, because it would be nice to continue the story of the same character.

Ok, so I just saw this. I played both Origins and finished awakening and am looking forward to the Darkspawn Chronicles.. but I doubt it will be as fun as the previous DLC's. My thoughts on Dragon Age:

    1. Make it for PC!! The best experience for DA is on the PC.
    2. DO NOT RUSH IT. DO NOT F**K IT UP FOR ME OK!! I want the same thrill and excitement as in the first. I will, as many other too, not accept a lesser game just so that EA can suck the money from the overexcited fans. Please Bioware, you have never failed me in terms of RPG so do not make this an half-assed attempt just to please those EA money-hungry basterds.
    3. Make the game more exciting. Really.. by the time you finish the campaign 2x you already know all you need to about the game, even with the DLCs. I mean it's worth it just to see the origins story and how it plays out, but overall, when talking about time consumption over satisfaction, when you get to finish 2 Dragon Age Origins campaigns you already know everything you need to know. So find a way to randomize stuff!
    4. I love your work Bioware, keep it up.

    Regards, your loyal fan

I hope they make it like a true sequel....bringing over consequences for every decision I made in DA:O instead of the half hearted attempts made in awakening.

wesome!! this should be good... after finishing Origins and Awakening, I feel myself at a loss of good RPG's to play... Guess I'll have to keep myself busy till then with more... mundane RPG's...
